In Wales, rain is expected on a daily basis, and if it does not rain, it is enough to be happy. In the south of Spain, Javea (in Spanish) or Xàbia (in Valencian,, or meridional Catalsan), the expectations are sea and sun. The Mediterranean is there, somewhat stronger than elsewhere, as it is pushed by stronger winds, very blue, or turquoise, depending on the angle of light. But the sun has not shown up very often since my arrival and the beach is a little sad. No rain is not good enough. One requires the sun and when it does not show, everyone comes and goes on the esplanade with a pout.
