Saint John Perse (1887-1975) was born in the French West Indies, where he lived until 1899 before moving to Pau, France. He later became a diplomat. Anti-Nazi, he fled France in 1940. He received the Nobel Prize for literature in 1960. His poetry I read with great pleasure.
This site is dedicated to him.
